Sitting in the Discomfort
Welcome to One Degree Shift series – Episode 5 – Sitting in the Discomfort
When you start making one-degree shifts, you are very likely going to end up in a place of discomfort. Don’t let that make you stop or back up
Lets talk about how to sit in discomfort
- Acknowledge the feelings associated with the discomfort – Anger? Sadness? Discouraged? Call these feelings out and let them know you know they are there.
- Connect with your body and recognize how these are showing up in your body –tightness in throat, unsettled stomach, pacing,
- Breathe deeply and reassure your body it is only temporary. The discomfort is a journey – the steep hill you have to climb to get the beautiful view of the lake
- Imagine a warm blanket being wrapped around you – and maybe even around the discomforting emotions.
- Talk to the discomfort like a child – let it know it is okay to go away
- Identify an act of self-care you can do to help yourself accept the discomfort – call a friend,
- Take a walk in nature.
This is your challenge for today, make a one-degree shift in the form of self-care.
If you require something deeper, reach out for a session. I am here for you.
